根据柯林斯英英词典：sell off vt. [tr, adverb] to sell (remaining or unprofitable items), esp at low prices （也就是说将剩下的或不赚钱的物品卖掉）。这里就是将重型机械子公司部分对外面卖掉，而不是处理给医疗用品子公司，那样就不会再有后面的redeployed了。然后将卖重型机械子公司所回收的投资，再重新投入（redeploy）医疗用品子公司。

如果讲医疗用品子公司的投资额也是800万美元，现在就有1600万美元的资产。按照相同资产收益率，它的收益额就要增加一倍。加上其他子公司的收益，就是公司的总收益。
这是管理会计基础，MBA不做这种题的。

the new return on assets for the entire corporation= new net income / total assets = 2,720,000/(8,000,000+8,000,000+3,000,000)=2,720,000/19,000,000≈14.3%

Therefore, the corporation can raise its rate of return on assets by more than 5% （14.1%-9%）if it carried out the investment redeployment.
