世界卫生组织表明心血管病是世界上引发死亡的重要原因。并预示如果再不采取更多的运动，它将仍然存在。专家估计，它将会在2015年一年致使二千万人死亡。2005年已评估有一千七百五十万人死亡。并且80%的死者为低收等及中等收入的人。
