Freface
At the turn of the century, the world has marched into the Information Age. The development of the economy and the improvement of the society are more and more dependent on the information resources, the information technology and the information industry. The electronic information technology which is growing mature, is deeply changing our traditional concepts, our way of thinking, mode to work, life style and the industrial and social structure of the whole society. Informationalizaion has become the only option for the world's economic development and the level becomes the mark for the measurement of a country's level of modernization.
At present, our national informational construction has reached to a very important stage, enterprise informationalization. Enterprise informationalizaion is the basis of the national informationalization, and is the most important part of the the economic infromationalization. With the speeding of the enterprise reform, the enterprise informationalization will sure become the focus of our attention.
Today's enterprise informationalization must be constructed on the basis of the Intranet. With its rapid development, Intranet has become the mainstream for web building. Enterprises in the nationwide all build their own Intranets. With its unique technology for information's integration,
release and browse, the inner connection and the competitive ability of the enterprise can be enhanced. In a word, informationalization cannot be done without the Intranet.
The Internet is the core of the Intranet. A small enterprise is a simple network and a big enterprise is a complicated network. The types for networks are various and can be mainly devided as the WAN(Wide Area Network) and the LAN(Local Area Network). Like the Internet, TCP\IP(Transmission Control Protocol\Internet Protocol) is the basis of the Intranet. IP distributes unique address for each computer, and the address tells the router where to send the information. TCP marks each packet with sequent numbers and quee them up after they have arrived their destination. In this way, everyone and every department can easily connected without considering the differences between platforms and can be connected to the Internet later.
Intranet is not simply equals to the original LAN. The enterprise may cross districts and even international. They may have branches in regions. And these enterprises' computer networks can be a WAN, a LAN or an Intranet.
