首先，餐桌是一个长方形的桌子，左边坐着女主人，右边，也就是女主人的对面，是男主人的位子。两边坐着客人，客人的座次必需是一男一女的这样坐，目的是方便讨论话题，不会是女的跟女的讨论着女性话题，男性同理。
Firstly, the hostess sits on the left side of the rectangular dining table. On the right side of the table, which is across the hostess, is the seat of the host. The guests sit on the two sides, alternating between a man and a woman. This seating arrangement is for the ease of discussion, preventing the guests from talking to only those of their own gender.

Right in front of us is a big plate with a small bowl on it.
左手边放着的是3把叉子：最靠近盘子的那支是用来吃鱼的，临近的那支则是用来吃肉排，第三把是吃糕点用的。
On the left side of the table are three forks. The fork nearest to the plate is used for fish, the one nearby for steaks, and the last one for desserts.
右手边放着的是2把小刀和1跟小匙：那么，和叉子对应着，第一把是用来切鱼的，第二把则是肉，汤匙是用来吃甜食的。
On the right side are two knives and a teaspoon. Corresponding to the porks, the first knife is used for fish, the second one for meat. The teaspoon is used for desserts.
大盘子的上方是一把汤匙。右手上方是2个杯子，小的那个是用来喝酒的，大的是用来喝水的。
On top of the plate is a teaspoon. On the upper right hand side are two cups. The smaller one is used for wine, whereas the larger one is probably used for water.(这里原文缺失，我根据上下文理解自己补上)
左手上方还会有个碟子，上面有面包、黄油和一把黄油刀。
On the upper left hand side is a plate with bread,butter and a butter knife on it.
